Heber
Valley is tucked between the Wasatch and the Uinta Mountains. On the west
side of the Valley, facing the eastern slope of the Wasatch, is one of Utah's
finest state parks. While the listed assets do not mentioned leaf-looking, the
fall colors, here, are certainly a drawing card for those folks in the know. But
more than the draw of the autumn leaves are the many facilities to help enjoy
leaf-looking in a different style. Here you can mount a trusty horse and amble
over beautiful trails surrounded by nature's fall extravaganza. Or stay a while
in Heber City and play golf on the Parks exquisite 36-hole golf course - reputed
to be one of Utah's finest. Then, take a break and go leaf-looking again. For
more information about the Park, visit the Utah State Parks web site: Wasatch
Mtn State Park
To get
there from exit 148 of I-80, follow US-40 south to Heber City (about 20 miles)
and turn right onto Hwy-113. You will have a beautiful drive all the way because
the vistas from US-40 are also rewarding.
Your
return trip could take in Provo Canyon.
Just south of Heber City, US-40 and US-189 split. Follow 189 south (the right
hand split) which will take you to and through Provo Canyon.
