Just south of US-6, west of the town of Wellsboro in Central Pennsylvania, is a special place formed long ago called the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Located between two state parks, Leonard Harrison State Park on the east rim and Colton Point State Park on the west rim, the views from either side present far more than just the autumn colors. We suggest the best time to view the autumn leaves here is about 1½ hours before sunset when the warmth of the setting sun really brings out the fall colors. Best viewed from the west rim ( Colton Point State Park). Next best time is about 1½ hours after sunrise when, as in the evening, the warmth of the rising sun brings out the fall colors. Mornings don't seem to be as good as evenings but weather, of course, may be the deciding factor for you. In the morning, the fall colors are best viewed from the east rim ( Leonard Harrison State Park).
