Yes, there are
several 'Grand Canyons of the East' awaiting the eyes of tourists. And, yes,
one of them is in Western New York State in Letchworth State Park. Here the
visitor is rewarded with beautiful autumn colors (in October, of course) and
an excellent view of the three waterfalls (probably best viewed from the stone
vridge below the falls). The Morris Dam overlook gives you a great view from
above this wonder of nature. And everywhere are those beautiful autumn leaves.
From I-390, exit
7, go to Morris (2 miles), turn right onto Hwy 36, go 2 more miles to the
entrance road of the Park. Turn left and enjoy the vistas. When you leave the
park, turn left onto Hwy 19-A and go to Portageville. Turn left, again, onto
Hwy 436 which takes you back to I-390.
Most accommodations are 'booked
up' during the fall leaf viewing season. If you haven't made your hotel/motel reservations yet we
have included access to an on-line hotel reservation system for your convenience.
