This is a great loop
for folks motoring between Branson and Memphis. US-63 is frequently
recommended as the preferred routing. Exiting I-55 at exit 23, take US-63
north to Hardy.
Here you have two
options: the southern route (in Arkansas) or the northern route (in Missouri).
Many folks use one route going and the other returning. Others like to return
on a familiar road; both are good and the leaves are equally good.
Southern Route
Turn left onto US-62/412 and follow it to its junction with US-65. Turn right.
Now you are on the combined routes of US-62/65/412 but you will now follow the
signs for US-65 heading north all the way to Branson.
Northern Route
Stay on US-63 and into Missouri (about 16 miles to the border) to West Plains.
Turn left onto US-160 through Gainesville to the junction of Hwy-76 at
Forsyth. Turn left on Hwy-76 and in less than 20 minutes you'll be in Branson.
While you're in the
Branson area it's a good opportunity to enjoy a show in one of their many
excellent theatres if that isn't already in your agenda. For more about Branson, see: Branson:
what, where!
Most accommodations are 'booked
