Autumn colors in Kentucky start appearing around the end of September and continue through October into November. Kentucky is fortunate to have several controlled access highways which are great vantage points from which to view the fall colors. Stay in the right lane, drive at the speed limit (while most everyone else passes you by) and enjoy safe viewing.

There are many parks and forests which are very popular with leaf lookers. Additionally, those who wish to be more active can hike or even mountain bike through many of the Kentucky Autumn wonderlands. There are also several organized tours for both hikers and bikers

Favorite destinations for leaf lookers in Kentucky include:

• Cumberland Gap Historic National Park
• Daniel Boone Parkway in Daniel Boone National Forest (take exit 41 of I-75)
• Interstate 75 south of Lexington
• Mountain Parkway in Powell and Wolfe Counties (take exit 98 of I-64)
