Leaf-Lookers Guide

Take the US-36 freeway north out of Denver to Lafayette where it become two-lane. Continue on US-36 to Estes Park and the junction of Hwy-7. Turn left on 7 and enjoy the splendid views of the fall colors on the slopes of the mountains on your right. The autumn leaves, here, especially just after dawn when the sun enhances the golden glow of the leaves with its own, are as beautiful as anywhere in Colorado.

You can stay on Hwy-7 to Lyons and then follow Hwy-66 back to I-25 exit 243. Or, if you haven't had enough, yet, about 23 miles south of Estes Park and US-36, is Hwy-72 (to Ward and Nederland). Turn right on 72 and continue your tour to Nederland and Hwy-119. Turn left on 119 and follow it to Boulder and the US-36 freeway to Denver.
